Friends of Francis is a community outreach program formed by members of the congregation of Westminster by the Sea Presbyterian church in Daytona Beach Shores. Their mission of love and peace helps to change lives by helping others in need.

Annual Caregiver’s Luncheon Held in Pensacola


The third Annual Caregiver’s Luncheon was held on December 15 at Marcus Pointe Baptist Church in Pensacola. The individuals connected with Project Empower of Northwest Florida and PURE Friendship ministries were given the opportunity to invite their caregivers to a free luncheon in their honor.

Sunland Donates Art Created by Residents


Sunland recently donated art to create a gallery at the APD State Office.  The art was featured during Sunland’s 2015 Art Show.

Happy Holidays from Sunland


The holiday season is truly the most wonderful time of the year at Sunland! Beginning in early December and continuing throughout the month, residents and staff enjoy many exciting opportunities for celebration and fellowship.


2015 Holiday Celebrations at Tacachale


On December 8, the center kicked off the holiday season with a parade.  Participants included floats constructed by residents and staff, several area high school bands, JROTCs, cheerleaders, staff members driving their restored classic cars, and local law enforcement agencies in cars, on motorcycles and on horseback.

Three Wishes


Every year around the third week of September, the APD Southern Region receives an email from the Miami Herald Wish Book alerting us they are now open for nominations of families in need. This is a terribly difficult task since we are limited to three families and all of our families are experiencing some type of need.

Tzu Chi Foundation Plays Santa


On December 19, Tacachale had some very special visitors as volunteers from the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation Orlando Service Center brought holiday cheer to nine of our homes.
