Tzu Chi Foundation Plays Santa

On December 19, Tacachale had some very special visitors as volunteers from the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation Orlando Service Center brought holiday cheer to nine of our homes.  Accompanied by Santa Claus and some Tacachale staff, the group made the rounds to Hope, Progress, Dogwood, Rose, Orange, Poppy, Palmwood, Oakwood and Peach home, distributing gifts ranging from necessities like socks and slippers to luxury items such as perfume and nail polish.  This merry group brought smiles everywhere they went.

Tzu Chi is an international humanitarian organization whose mission is to relieve the suffering of those in need, and create a better world for all.  In Chinese, “tzu” means “compassion”, and “chi” means “relief”. The foundation was established in 1966 by the Buddhist nun Dharma Master Cheng Yen in Taiwan.  She began her work with the help of 35 other women, and from those humble beginnings sprang a group that is now 10 million people strong and active on five continents and in over 90 countries.

Tzu Chi volunteers spread good cheer.
