Disability Mentoring Day


Students and job seekers with disabilities are encouraged to participate in Disability Mentoring Day (DMD) on October 21 to gain valuable experience through job shadowing.

iBudget Algorithm


The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) held a public workshop on August 19 in Tallahassee to obtain feedback on the new iBudget Florida algorithm. Advocates, stakeholders, parents, service providers, and others attended to hear about the improved algorithm used to predict resource needs for customers enrolled on the iBudget waiver.

Support Coordinators to Meet


Waiver Support Coordinators are invited to a forum in Orlando on September 9 sponsored by the Association for Support Coordination Agencies (ASCA).

Sunland Visitors


On Thursday, August 13, Sunland and DDDP hosted a visit by representatives from The House of Representatives and The Senate, along with APD Deputy Director for Operations Tom Rankin, Legislative Affairs Director Robert Brown and other state office staff.

Northwest Florida Celebrates!


Northwest Florida celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) with a 2015 Awards and Volunteer Recognition Luncheon on July 29 at the Escambia Westgate School in Pensacola.

The Arc Gateway PALS moving toward Career Success


The Arc Gateway Program for Adult Learning and Support (PALS) wrapped up its first summer semester towards achieving success at Pensacola State College (PSC).

Training in Employment


The Northwest Region provided Supported Employment training and Social Security Work Incentive training through Skype in three locations—Panama City, Pensacola and Tallahassee—on August 3-4 and August 10-11. Thirty-two individuals were certified in supported employment in the region.

Amanda Lynch is a cheerful, energetic woman who enjoys working and staying busy. She is a front end service worker at the Winn-Dixie supermarket on Gladiolus Drive in Fort Myers.
