Governor Rick Scott and the Cabinet have officially declared October as Disability Employment Awareness Month in Florida. This is when the entire nation focuses on employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Florida’s theme is Abilities Work.


Cabinet Declares Disability Employment Month


Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi introduced a resolution at the September 29 Cabinet meeting declaring October as Disability Employment Awareness Month in Florida.

Exceptional Employer Awards


Make plans to attend the Exceptional Employer Awards ceremony on October 7 in Tallahassee. The Agency for Persons with Disabilities, Blind Services, Vocational Rehabilitation, and other partners will be recognizing eight outstanding businesses at Tallahassee City Hall.

APD Wins Two Awards


The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) has been named 2015 Customer of the Year by RESPECT of Florida. The award was presented during the 39th Annual Conference of the Florida Association of Rehabilitation Facilities (Florida ARF) in Clearwater which manages the RESPECT program.

The summer of 2015 was full of adventure, excitement, and family gatherings at William J. Rish Recreational Park operated by the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD). The ongoing partnership between APD, Florida State University (FSU) Law Enforcement, and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Lodge Number 5, came through with flying colors for families on the APD Medicaid waiver waiting list.

The Zelica Grotto hosted their annual dance for Capstone Adaptive Learning and Therapy Centers on September 4 at their hall in Pensacola.
