Football in Miami

By Maria Angeles Linares

October 24 was a beautiful South Florida fall day.  It was breezy and the sun was shining.  There was excitement in the air.  The University of Miami Hurricanes were playing the Clemson Tigers.  The residents of Our Kids Group Home were special guests of the University of Miami.  The kids had been sleepless with anticipation and the day had finally arrived.  Decked out in their University of Miami Hurricane tee-shirts, they were the U’s #1 fans.

Emmanuel Rosado, Dwight Surall, Christopher Toribio, Allan Guerrier, along with their two escorts Zenaida Hechevarria and Carlos Otamendi, were given the VIP treatment.  They were greeted at Sun Life Stadium by Leah Gross, who took them on a special tour of the stadium.  Next on the agenda was a chance to meet Sebastian the Ibis and pictures with the Sunsations cheerleaders.

The kids had the opportunity to watch the team warm-up on the field and participate in presentations on the field.  Then the most important part of this FANtastic day, kick-off time was finally here.  The teams took the field and the game began.  It was a great day for all.

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities wishes to thank the University of Miami for the wonderful opportunity extended to APD customers.  They had a wonderful day to remember.
