Tacachale Celebrates the Holidays
There wasn’t an empty seat at Tacachale’s 35th annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, held on December 5. Residents, staff, volunteers, and members of the community braved the cold weather to celebrate the holidays, drink cocoa, eat cookies, and enjoy the festive performances of 1000 Voices of Florida, Inc., Annasemble Community Orchestra, and the Tacachale Carolers.
The main event, though, was the lighting of the four live Christmas trees. When it was time to light the trees, the entire property went dark, and the assembled crowd counted down. Then, as local news anchor and master of ceremonies David Snyder said, “Light it up!” the trees were illuminated, casting the audience in the soft glow of the holiday lights.
There was silence as everyone took in the magical surroundings. This didn’t last long, however, as a sound suddenly broke through – sleigh bells. It was Santa!
Santa rode in on his sleigh and everyone had a chance to meet him and have their picture taken with him in front of a tent decorated to look like his workshop.
The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony was one of two holiday events at Tacachale that week. The first was a holiday parade, which took place on December 3. The parade kicked off the week’s festivities in style with school bands, ROTC units, law enforcement agencies, antique cars, and floats.
