Caregiver Appreciation Luncheon Held in Pensacola

By Tara Potter

The passion and service of our neighbors who dedicate their lives to the care of others often goes unrecognized.  The love and care given by caregivers day after day is paramount to the successes realized by those living with disabilities in our community.  They say, “It takes a village,” and Marcus Pointe Baptist Church, powered by Project Empower’s Parent Resource Center and Pure Friendship Ministries, takes notice of the needs of those who have disabilities and their caregivers, dedicating resources to them and offering programs to serve them.

The annual Caregiver Appreciation Luncheon is the perfect venue to show just how grateful we in the community are to the caregivers who serve others. Marcus Pointe Baptist Church's Mildred Busch heads the team that delivers the Christmas magic each year and this year they outdid themselves once again.

Over 100 caregivers were honored Tuesday, December 10 at Marcus Pointe Baptist Church in Pensacola, where the sixth annual Caregiver Appreciation Luncheon was held.  Ms. Busch’s team cooked, served, and decorated abundantly.  The meal was a delicious holiday treat – turkey, ham, with all the fixings with homemade, decadent desserts covering three dessert tables.  The dining tables where the guests were served were decorated with the finest Christmas china, silver, crystal, and carefully crafted centerpieces on each table.  The pictures do not do the beauty of it all justice!  Ms. Busch tells us that this event is one of the team's favorite events.  They love to serve such a deserving group of caregivers, and the many hours that this amazing team at Marcus Pointe Baptist gives to this luncheon is greatly appreciated.

Marcus Pointe Baptist Church has opened their doors to many events in our community that serve those with disabilities.  The Empowerment Parent Resource Center, located at Marcus Pointe Baptist, exists to serve and empower parents, grandparents and all caregivers of individuals under the age of 26. The Resource Center helps connect them with community resources.  Pure Friendship Ministries' Pastor Destry LeBrun provides disability ministry to all ages at Marcus Pointe Baptist, holding bible study and life skills training each week.  For more information about the Caregiver Luncheon or any of the services/events provided by the Empowerment Parent Resource Center (www.eprcnwfl.com), please contact Destry LeBrun, dlebrun@me.com, 850-375-4790.

Project Empower hopes that you will attend the Caregiver Appreciation Luncheon each year, the second Tuesday of December.
