Parent Training and Information Centers

Project Empower Coalition of NW Florida, a nonprofit agency organized to assist those with disabilities and their families, meets every other month at Marcus Pointe Baptist Church in Pensacola. These meetings, which can also be attended remotely, are a forum for people with disabilities, parents, service providers, and community leaders where ideas are born, and strategies developed that promote independence and a better quality of life for those living with disabilities. A coffee social, exercise, and art projects are offered every Friday from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Building A, Door 1 at Marcus Pointe. A Caregiver Appreciation Luncheon will be held on December 10 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Marcus Pointe. Luncheon registration is now open at https://www.eprcnwfl.com/event/caregiver-appreciation-luncheon/.

This month, the Family Network on Disabilities (FND) presented information about their programs, such as parent training and information centers where parents/caregivers may receive technical assistance and training. Parent Trainer for FND’s Parents of the Panhandle Information Network (POPIN) Ginger Manley provided a presentation to meeting attendees at last month’s meeting. She explained to attendees that FND University offers courses and resources both in English and Spanish. Manley can be reached at 850-287-6061 or Ginger@FNDFL.ORG. For more information about these resources, please visit fndusa.org.

Project Empower’s Empowerment Parent Resource Center (EPRC) is a parent resource center dedicated to providing one-on-one support to parents who have children with disabilities birth to age 26 in all four counties of the panhandle.
