Tallahassee’s Night to Shine

The Tim Tebow Foundation hosted its annual Night to Shine Prom at over 350 venues across the country last month. Due to tremendous community support, Tallahassee’s Prom has grown to be one of the largest in the nation. Several hundred attendees, parents, volunteers, and community leaders participated in this year's event. It was held at The Pavilion at The Centre of Tallahassee.

This event was an opportunity for teens and adults with special needs in our community to enjoy a magical evening designed just for them. Guests enjoyed everything free of charge from limo rides to corsages, shoe shines, dinner, dancing, activities, dresses, suits, and hair and make-up services. In addition, the parents of these individuals were treated to a catered dinner and a relaxing evening away from their caregiving responsibilities.

Many prom-goers danced the night away. This year, a therapy petting zoo was a big hit with attendees and volunteers alike. A pink “unillama” even posed patiently for hundreds of photos with no spitting on guests.

A Special Note…

Jason Hebenthal attended the Genesis Church’s Night to Shine 2019. Lee Ann, Jason’s mother, expressed her gratitude with the follow comments:

“It was wonderful that this organization cared for every detail to prepare him for this event. He got to choose his outfit at the church location and was supplied with a coupon for a free haircut from Sport Clips. He was allowed to ride a limo bus to the event hall. This was his first time to ever ride a limo. The video of him dancing made me speechless. He has always been a wallflower and not participate in dancing but when they played Michael Jackson’s Thriller there was no stopping him. He is talking about getting ready for next year already. I cannot begin to thank everyone involved in this process. For Jason it truly was a Night to Shine. Thank you.”
