When You Wish Upon A Star

The Arc of the Emerald Coast held their Annual Membership and Awards Banquet on May 9 at the Shalimar United Methodist Church in Shalimar. The theme was Disney, “When You Wish Upon A Star.” The staff and customers dressed as characters, including Mickey Mouse, Prince Charming, Snow White, Aladdin, and Jasmine. The Children’s Center entertained the audience with a rendition of a song from “Frozen.” “Lady and the Tramp” spaghetti and meatballs were served.

Awards were presented to individuals receiving supported employment, residential, and adult day training services. Ivey Gray received a supported employment award for Independence because “He loves his job, is very reliable, has a positive attitude and is always polite.” Gray has been employed at the I-10 rest stop for over five years despite all the changes that have occurred. As a special surprise for him, his Agency for Persons with Disabilities Waiting List Coordinator Martha Dancy-Daniel was there to cheer for him!
