APD Chief of Staff Meets Family Care Council Florida

Last month, new Chief of Staff for the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) David Dobbs, talked with representatives from the local Family Care Councils in Orlando during the Family Care Council Florida meeting. Dobbs, along with APD Legislative Affairs Director Jeff Ivey and Bureau Chief of Provider Supports Clarence Lewis, presented an agency update to council members. The update included an overview of the 2019 legislative session, waiver redesign study, Consumer-Directed Care Plus (CDC+) program, and the Next Generation Questionnaire for Situational Information.

Additional guest speakers included President and CEO of Loveland Center Patrick Guerin who shared three steps to shifting the paradigm for individuals with developmental disabilities, and an introduction to the Arc of Florida’s new Executive Director Kirk Hall.

The next Family Care Council Florida meeting will be July 19-20 in Orlando. The council will also be hosting a breakout session entitled, “Things You Wish You Knew” at the 21st Annual Family CafĂ© conference on Friday, June 7 at 4:30 p.m. in the Bayhill 28 conference room.
