Autism Works for the Community

An open house celebration was held on May 22 at V Paul’s Italian Ristorante in Pensacola to announce a new program, “Autism Works for the Community” made possible by a grant from The Able Trust.

Guenevere Crum, Senior Vice President of The Able Trust, presented Cate Merrill, CEO of Autism Pensacola, with a check for $42,000. The grant funds will be used to match participants with employers in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

Career exploration, resume coaching, interview practice, and job searching assistance will be provided to individuals with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder or intellectual disability. Supervisors and front-line managers will receive training on evidence-based practices for a stronger, more diverse team. Appointments are made on a first-come, first-served basis with the Workforce Development Specialist. They will work with companies and individuals to assist them in uncovering their strengths to build a more inclusive working environment.

For those interested in learning more about Santa Rosa and Escambia employment opportunities, individuals may schedule a meeting with the Workforce Development Specialist. Visit autismpensacolaworks.youcanbook.me or call (850) 434-7171.
