Happy, Happy New Year!
By Director Barbara PalmerNew Year’s Day presents a clean slate for the coming 12 months. Many people feel refreshed and reinvigorated by the challenges that lay ahead in the new year. I, too, am excited about what is to come in 2019. As many of you are aware, the state of Florida will inaugurate a new Governor on January 8. I look forward to working with Governor-elect Ron DeSantis to meet the many needs of our customers.
The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) is preparing for the upcoming legislative session, which begins in March. We will be working with Governor-elect DeSantis’ new staff to develop budget recommendations that will help APD customers and providers in the future.
Because our customers, families, partners, waiver support coordinators, stakeholders, and others are working together, we expect 2019 to be another phenomenal year for APD and the people we serve. Let’s continue the positive energy throughout 2019.
