Santa’s Workshop at Tacachale

Preparation for the holidays started early at Tacachale as 70 residents and 44 staff journeyed to our own “North Pole” to construct original decorations at a center-wide Christmas Arts & Crafts event held in November. A life-size blow-up Santa, along with a professional crafter from the local business “Do-Art” and student volunteers, greeted participants as they congregated under the pavilion hung with garlands and Christmas bells.

Six different activity booths stocked with paints, markers, flower picks, poinsettias, gold and silver tinsel, floral foam, wrapping paper, Styrofoam balls, greenery, and flower pots inspired excitement and great creativity. A quick stop at the refreshment table rejuvenated the participants, and then our artists were back to work! The scene resembled a Hallmark card, complete with beautiful decorations, huge smiles, and lots of Christmas cheer.
