Crisis Training

The APD Northwest and Southeast Regions Waiting List & Community Affairs teams provided education and behavioral insight on citizens with developmental disabilities during Crisis Intervention Training with law enforcement officers from Okeechobee, Martin, and St. Lucie counties, sponsored by the Florida Sheriffs Association. In addition to strategies, they shared information on APD, criteria for eligibility, and the services available to our customers and families.

Through the sponsorship of the FSA, Regional Program Manager Octavius Jackson and Operations Management Consultant II Tracie Davis provide this training to law enforcement officers throughout the state of Florida as part of their certification training. This exposes the officers to better ways to interact with our customers, possible areas of vulnerabilities, and how to identify signs of abuse or exploitation.
