Great at Home Goods
By Melanie Mowry EttersSteven Driller is a stock room processor for the Home Goods Store in Delray Beach. He has been on the job for more than 11 years. Driller is a very reliable worker who this store counts on due to his very efficient nature.
Driller primarily works overnight shifts from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. three days a week. His job is to unload merchandise from trucks, take the items out of the boxes, put price stickers on them, put the item in the store’s computer system, and then place it on a cart to be moved to the showroom floor.
Driller said, “I open boxes and process the merchandise making sure stickers are on merchandise and putting sensors on if needed. I break down boxes. I also do lamps. We all work together and I am part of the team.”
Stockroom Manager Erin Carpenter said, “Steven is wonderful. He is a strong worker. He has a desire to work extremely fast and is one of the team members with the highest productivity measurements. Steven brings a whole new aspect to the team. Steven has such a friendly nature and we all just adore him.”
Driller receives services from the Agency for Persons with Disabilities.
Driller said, “I like getting a check and having spending money. I like coming to work to see my friends and coworkers. I like getting paid.”
Coworkers enjoy Driller’s amazing ability to know the name and year a song came out when he hears it on the radio. He also likes to sing along to the radio while he works.
Carpenter said, “Steven is well thought of and well liked here. He works with fervor. Steven is an all-around good guy. Steven is compassionate and helpful.”
Driller wants to stay with Home Goods in the future saying, “I want to keep on working and cleaning. I want to keep on doing what I am doing.”
When not at work, Driller likes to be on a computer browsing the internet and playing all types of games. He enjoys watching television, too.
