Sip, Share, and Socialize

By Octavius Jackson

On April 24, the Family Care Council of Area 1 sponsored a Sip, Share, and Socialize event. This event was designed to provide a social, interactive environment after hours when community partners, parents, and aligning agencies could come together and share beneficial information to families. Kristen Marks with My Pink Lawyer shared information about guardianship, advocacy, and special needs trusts. Melinda Poe Davidson with the Escambia School District provided information about school-age transition programs. Octavius Jackson with the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) shared information on APD’s eligibility process, waitlist services, and waiver enrollment. The social setting was Perfect Plain Brewing Company in downtown Pensacola. The relaxed environment allowed the community and participants to enjoy social interaction while learning about solid options for their family. Ongoing social activities after business hours will be coordinated on a quarterly basis to educate families and the community.
