The Arc Jacksonville Village

On April 17, Agency for Persons with Disabilities Chief of Staff Karen Hagan, Communications Director Melanie Mowry Etters, and Regional Quality Assurance Lead Cathy Guiry visited the Arc Jacksonville Village, located next door to the APD office in Jacksonville on Hodges Boulevard. The planned community has 97 apartments with single or two-bedroom models. The Village is at capacity with a lengthy waiting list for new residents.

Self-advocate Emily DeLisle showed off her home to the visitors. She was one of the first people to move into the Village about three years ago. Arc Jacksonville was able to raise $22 million to build and furnish the complex, and remarkably has no debt. Many generous businesses and families donated money and items to the project, which prevented the organization from having to take out large loans.
