The Future Revisited

By Maria Angeles Linares

On February 2, Miami-Dade County celebrated Bring Your Child to Work Day. This tradition originally started as Bring Your Daughter to Work Day and gradually evolved to include sons as well to be more inclusive.

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities’ Southern Region had five participants. The children were able to experience what their parents do every day. Some assisted their parent or worked with other staff members learning to file, shred, and assist our staff with their computer issues. They were very inquisitive and asked some great questions. There was particular interest in exactly who was the boss and what the boss did all day!

The day ended with goodies and Certificates of Appreciation for all, presented by Evelyn Alvarez. As the boss, certificate presentation is one of her many duties.
