Arc Gateway South Santa Rosa Opens Day Program

The Arc Gateway South Santa Rosa celebrated the opening of the first day program for adults with disabilities in the area on May 2. The program is located at 5668 Gulf Breeze Parkway, Unit B-8, Gulf Breeze, across from the Gulf Breeze Zoo, making for convenient field trips. Two parents of individuals with developmental disabilities were persistent and determined to bring a meaningful day program to their community.

Facilitated by volunteers, they created a weekly respite program at Community Life United Methodist Church, showing that there was a need in their community. They were able to reach out to Missy Rogers, CEO of the Arc Gateway. With a variety of funding sources and community support, their vision became a reality. Groups of community leaders joined staff and parents in celebration of the new skills acquisition training center. Parents and program participants were excited about having a program to attend near their homes. The community is now working on bringing a Miracle League program to their community.
