Twenty-two-year-old Whitney Jordan is a very goal-orientated young woman. If you speak with her job coach, Bobbie Harrison, she will tell you, “Whitney is a very confident young lady that knows the goals she has set for her life and is willing to establish reasonable steps toward reaching them.”

Jordan’s journey to paid employment took time, effort, and commitment. She spent several months practicing her interviewing skills, creating a resume, and applying for several jobs. With guidance and support from her job coach, Jordan has obtained and successfully maintained employment. She has now been a custodian at the Naval Aviation Station in Pensacola for over two years!

Speaking of Jordan, her employer, Pam Walker, states, “She is always happy, and comes in everyday with a can-do attitude.” Walker continues her praises of Jordan, saying she is always willing to learn and pays attention to detail.

Professionally, Jordan aspires to one day become a team leader. She enjoys working and spending time with her colleagues at the Naval Aviation Station. “I enjoy it and I like being around people. I get along well with my coworkers,” says Jordan.

Employment has helped Jordan thrive personally as well. With hard work, dedication, and a lot of saving, Jordan was able to purchase her own vehicle, paying cash for it in December 2016. Her next goal to purchase her own home. Jordan says she “wants to work in order to make her life better and be independent.” It is evident she has already been incredibly successful with this goal.
