Children's Day
Children of all ages flooded the Capitol on January 23 for the Children’s Day event. This year marked the 23rd anniversary of Children’s Week. Exhibitors from various government entities, organizations, and businesses filled the courtyard with interactive displays, informational materials, and promotional items. Children enjoyed face painting and other activities as well. Children's Week partners and volunteers created a "village" of interactive reading booths for children to explore, which featured stories and characters from their favorite books. This year’s Storybook Village theme was “Under the Sea.”
Communications Director Melanie Mowry Etters and Deputy Communications Director Katie Strickland hosted a table to present information about the agency to those who attended the event. The pair showcased APD’s Manners That Matter brochure, giving event attendees an etiquette guide for interacting with people with disabilities, and a brochure on Rish Park, the completely ADA-accessible recreational park for people with all disabilities located on Cape San Blas.
