APD Hosts Dementia Training

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities and the Department of Elder Affairs hosted a National Task Group on Intellectual Disabilities and Dementia Practices (NTG) training on October 23-25 in Tallahassee. The training is based on the newly developed, evidence-informed NTG Education and Training Curriculum on Dementia and Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities.

Agency for Persons with Disabilities Director Barbara Palmer welcomed everyone to the training. She told the audience that the increasing number of people with intellectual disabilities and dementia was brought up at every APD Town Hall meeting. Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease are huge issues for caregivers. Palmer was excited to see so many people taking the training.
