SportsAbility Expo at TCC

The Florida Disabled Outdoors Association (FDOA) sponsored its annual SportsAbility Expo in Tallahassee on April 7 at Tallahassee Community College. SportsAbility is all about enjoying athletics and the great outdoors while using your abilities, and it hosts events in different parts of the state each year.

The SportsAbility Expo had all kinds of games and activities for all ages and abilities. Badminton, tennis, and martial arts were crowd favorites. The music was from the Pyramid Studios Electric Band and singing by the Gretchen Everhart Chorus.

APD hosted an exhibit table, taking the opportunity to meet and greet people with disabilities. The expo was only one day of Tallahassee’s SportsAbility weekend, which also included an outdoor day on April 8 at Ochlockonee River State Park near Sopchoppy.

SportsAbility’s next stop will be the Family CafĂ© conference, June 16-18 in Orlando. Visit www.fdoa.org for more information on FDOA and SportsAbility.

Communications Director Melanie Mowry Etters and Deputy Communications Director Katie Strickland manned the APD exhibit at SportsAbility.
