Puerto Rico Day at the Capitol

The Puerto Rican Bar Association of Florida hosted Puerto Rico Day 2017 at the Florida State Capitol on April 26. This year’s theme was One Million Strong!. Puerto Rico Day, initiated in 1999, is a day to recognize the contributions of Puerto Rican Floridians in Tallahassee during session.

Displays were in the capitol courtyard, where Communications Director Melanie Mowry Etters, Deputy Communications Director Katie Strickland, and Liesl Ramos manned an informational display about the Agency for Persons with Disabilities, while on the 22nd floor of the Capitol, discussions on education, economics, and other topics affecting Puerto Ricans in Florida were held.

Liesl Ramos speaks with a Puerto Rico Day participant about APD and the agency’s mission.
