APD Stakeholder Meeting

On February 23, Agency for Persons with Disabilities Director Barbara Palmer hosted a gathering of APD Regional Operations Managers and state association leaders to update them on the agency priorities for the upcoming Legislative Session. Other topics covered included the transition of individuals from Carlton Palms into smaller home-like settings over the next two years, Governor Scott’s proposed “Fighting for Florida’s Future” budget, and provider development.

Representatives for several organizations attended including the Arc of Florida, Florida Association of Rehabilitation Facilities, Disability Rights Florida, Arc of Alachua, Family Care Council Florida, and Florida Developmental Disabilities Council.

Some of the APD presenters were Program Administrator Kim Walsh, Regional Support Program Administrator Tom Rice, Deputy Director of Budget and Planning David Dobbs, and Legislative Affairs Director Robert Brown.
