2017 WSC Conference

On November 17, waiver support coordinators (WSCs) from across the state gathered in Orlando for the 2017 WSC Conference. Beginning with a welcome from Director Palmer and then a presentation from keynote speaker David Pitonyak, the day was filled with informational sessions presented by various speakers on topics significant to WSCs and those they serve.

Waiver support coordinators were divided into groups for four different one-hour breakout sessions: APD iConnect, a client data management system; The Importance of Belonging, Supporting and Growing Healthy Relationships; Key Roles and Responsibilities of WSCs; and Disaster Preparedness, Response, and Recovery. By attending all sessions provided, WSCs earned six hours of in-serve training credit.

Lunchtime provided an opportunity for a Question and Answer training session. A panel of experts took questions from attendees and they were able to provide insight on areas of concern and receive feedback from the audience.

The day concluded with a closing by Director Palmer and Statewide Waiver Support Coordinator Liaison Meghan Kirkley and in-serve training credit certificate issuance. The event was an excellent training, networking, and educational experience for WSCs and APD staff alike. The WSC Conference is an annual event. The Champion will keep you updated on 2018 conference information as soon as it’s available!
