Project Search Baptist Facilitates Mock Interviews

On September 9, 2016, Project SEARCH at Baptist Hospital instructor, Shanta Boyd, facilitated mock interviews for the students of the three Project SEARCH programs in the Northwest Region at the Lakeview Activity Center in Pensacola. Participating as employers were Mike Dwyer and Val Johnson with Lowe’s, Angelique Morris with Central Credit Union and Katie Rice with the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD). The group interviewed the students for potential employment opportunities.

Morissa Reado, an individual on our APD Waitlist was one of the participants. She hopes to become employed in the community in either the customer service or housekeeping field. Reado has some experience working as a laundry assistant and store clerk. She is one of the Project Search Students who will develop new skills, get training along with career exploration, experience and possible employment connections in the coming year.

Each student was interviewed by each employer and received an evaluation and feedback on what to practice along with advice on how to improve their interviewing skills. The Northwest Region will be facilitating mock interviews with over 45 employers including Vocational Rehabilitation counselors at 11 schools in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties on October 6. Bay County will be facilitating mock interviews on October 12 and the Lively Technical Center is planning mock interviews for October 28. The Northwest Region is full of activities in honor of Disability Employment Awareness Month. The National Disability Employment Awareness Month theme is Inclusion Works.
