Area 9 Family Care Council held their monthly meeting on August 9, 2016, at the APD office in West Palm Beach. Attorney Anthony D. George, Jr. spoke to the Council regarding guardianships, guardianship advocates and special needs trusts. Jennifer Percival from the FAU Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD), Past Chair of FCC-15 Melody Hearn, and member of FCC-09 Ruthie Buckerman, attended a discussion of the recently enacted “Wes Kleinert Act” at the FAU MacArthur Campus in Jupiter, Florida on August 19, 2016. This new law concerns law enforcement’s interactions and questioning for persons with autism.
