Miami Snap Shot
By Kirk RyonOn September 9, the Southern Region hosted Lieutenant Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera and APD Director Barbara Palmer for a tour of three innovative Miami programs –the Emily Moises Adult Day Training (ADT) Center, the WOW Center and GCG Group Home.
Participants were able to observe clients in ADT programs that specialized in meeting the special needs of the aging population, the therapeutic application of fine and craft arts, physical fitness, and the positive effects of participation in charitable service. At GCG Group Home the Lt. Gov. Lopez-Cantera learned first-hand that consumers with chronic and disabling medical conditions can live full and productive lives in a regular home environment.
