Protect Your Identity

Florida has recently become one of several states to release voter registration information to the public, via the website http://www.voterrecords.com.
The specific information displayed varies by individual, but may include:

If you have a social media account (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) and your privacy settings are open for everyone to see, a link to your account may also show up. In order to find yourself, you may need to search different variations of your name.

The website provides a link to opt-out of what is displayed. The link to opt out is at the bottom of the webpage that displays your search results, and is titled “Record Opt-Out”. Going through the three-step process removes some but not all of the most sensitive information from what is displayed. Opting out will only effect your record and not the record of a family member.

Other states releasing voter records: Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Utah and Washington.
