Developmental Disabilities Day

February 18 was Developmental Disabilities Awareness Day at the Capitol. APD joined the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council, the Arc of Florida, and others to participate in activities in Tallahassee. Exhibits were on display on the second floor in the Capitol Rotunda.

A delegation of residents and staff from Sunland and DDDP attended DD Day at the Capitol. The group was thrilled to have an opportunity to tour the Capitol and meet State Representative Brad Drake and Senator Don Gaetz.

A news conference was held in the courtyard. During the news conference, Miami resident Darren Gregory received the seventh annual Idelio Valdes Leadership and Advocacy award. Gregory was honored for his efforts to promote disability awareness.
