Tacachale Hosts Multicultural Festival

Residents and employees of Tacachale took a virtual trip around the world on April 27 when the center held its 3rd Annual Multicultural Festival.  Tacachale has a diverse workforce, and the festival provides a venue for everyone to share unique elements of their culture with residents and coworkers.

This year’s event included 18 exhibits featuring food, clothing, and art from the ancestral homelands of staff and volunteers.  The countries and cultures represented were Nigeria, Scotland, Ireland, Croatia, Egypt, India, Greece, the Philippines, Persia, Lebanon, France, Jamaica, Italy, Afghanistan, Puerto Rican and African American.  Dishes included a choice of barbequed ribs or chicken, black-eyed peas with rice and cornbread, spring rolls, stuffed grape leaves, gulab jamun, tabouli, hummus with pita wedges, Irish stew, Scottish egg, chocolate or strawberry filled crepes, apple strudel, curry chicken, tortellini, ravioli and baklava.

The festival has grown each year and is quickly becoming one of our most popular annual events.  Event organizers Erin Saunders and Farideh Vatani did a fantastic job coordinating this event and are already beginning preparations for next year’s festival.
