Able Trust Open House

On May 19, the Able Trust hosted an open house.  Dozens of people from throughout the community, including Able Trust employees, were in attendance. The Able Trust staff provided tours of their building and shared information about some of their initiatives.

It was shared that the local Center for Independent Living (Ability 1st) was designated as this year's High School High-Tech Program of the year. The High School High-Tech Program is a collaborative partnership between Able Trust, VR, DOE, and Centers for Independent Living. It is funded annually through the legislature with approximately $400,000. This afterschool statewide program for kids with disabilities has the highest high school graduation rate over any other comparable program. All program participants successfully transition from high school into work, postsecondary education and/or trade schools.

Additionally, plans were shared about the upcoming annual Youth Leadership Forum which occurs in July.
