Able Act

On May 10, leaders from the Florida Prepaid College Board made a presentation to Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) employees in Tallahassee to share the latest on the new ABLE program. They are calling it ABLE United. Individuals may have up to $100,000 in the account without paying taxes on the money.

The Florida ABLE program for individuals with disabilities will begin July 1 to help people save money in a tax-free savings account for future services without losing their eligibility for state and federal benefits. The Florida Prepaid College Board is administering the program. The State Board of Administration has created a Trust Fund, which will hold appropriations and money for the Florida ABLE program.  For more information, visit myablesavings.com.
