Area 2 FCC Learns About ABLE United

The Area 2 FCC held their monthly meeting on November 30 at North Florida Financial Corporation in Tallahassee. John Finch, Director of ABLE United, was the guest speaker who shared information about the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act and how to open an ABLE account.

An ABLE account is a tax-free savings and investment account established to support qualified disability expenses for an individual with a disability, including living expenses. Unlike a Special Needs Trust, an ABLE United account allows for direct access to funds for authorized individuals, is generally less expensive, and provides tax-free earnings. The requirements for eligibility include that the individual must be a Florida resident at the time of application, the individual must have a qualifying disability, and the onset of the disability must be prior to age 26. Setting up an account is easy by simply visiting the ABLE United Enrollment website. To learn more about the ABLE United program or ABLE accounts, be sure to visit http://www.ableunited.com/.
