Gallery of Dreams

By Maria Angeles Linares

The Gallery of Dreams began eight years ago as an idea that Regional Program Supervisor for Quality Assurance Kirk Ryon had to display the artwork that was being produced in many of the adult day training (ADT) programs in the Southern Region.  Ryon was amazed by the amount of talent and creativity that many of the individuals were displaying.  So on July 1, 2008, the first Gallery of Dreams exhibit was installed in the lobby of the Rohde Building.  This has become an annual tradition.

Last year, our Gallery of Dreams exhibit had a special theme as we celebrated and commemorated the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.  We invited the artists, our ADT partners, and families to join us on this momentous occasion.  It was a joyous affair!

This year we are putting our best foot forward!  The artwork is as varied as are our consumers and artists.  Despite the diversity in the subject matter, there is one theme that seems to run through all the pieces and that is: Imagination and creativity know no bounds!  The Gallery of Dreams runs from through August 31.

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities wishes to thank all of our ADT partners.  It is programs like these that nurture, and encourage our consumers to express their creativity and imagination.
