Student Transition Fair

The Northwest Region of APD partnered with the Escambia County School District and the Student Transition program by organizing Student Mock Interviews and employment breakout sessions for students between the ages of 18 to 22 at the Student Transition Fair. The event was held on March 11.

The theme of this year’s Student Transition conference was “Life After High School.”  Employers from Lowe’s, Global Connections to Employment (GCE), Blue Wahoo’s, Verizon, Community Action Program, Landrum’s Staffing, Pensacola News Journal and Beach Community Bank interviewed students.

APD also provided a breakout session entitled, “Employer, Employees, and the Importance of Background Checks.”  Katrina Washington and Attorney Gene Mitchell provided helpful employment tips to students. They discussed the significance of having a crime-free background check to attain jobs. Lowe’s provided a break out session on “Resume Writing and the Importance of Cover Letters.”
