Cabinet Declares Developmental Disabilities Month

Governor Rick Scott and the Florida Cabinet members proclaimed March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month at their meeting on March 2.  APD customer David Poepping addressed the Cabinet to share the challenges he has faced trying to find a job, and the successes he has experienced in the past year locating two jobs with the help of the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD). His job coach Willie Miller attended the ceremony also. Poepping works as a sales associate at Shoe Station and a laundry attendant at the Hilton Garden Inn in Tallahassee.

Sharing with Governor Scott and Cabinet members, Poepping said, “I ride my bicycle to work and utilize our city bus system; and by the way I have never been late for work.”

Disability stakeholders joined APD in accepting the resolution sponsored by Attorney General Pam Bondi.
