Florida's Senior Day Shines

Older Floridians came from near and far to participate in Florida Senior Day at the Capitol, sponsored by the Department of Elder Affairs. Attendance and excitement were high during the April 15 event, even after a thunderstorm caused an early conclusion of activities in the Capitol Courtyard. There was much fun to be had and vital information to share.

APD was among the many state agencies and organizations to have exhibit tables at the event. A variety of entertainment, often performed by seniors, brightened the proceedings. APD Director Barbara Palmer participated in a town hall panel discussion in the Cabinet Meeting Room, along with Surgeon General Dr. John Armstrong, AHCA Secretary Liz Dudek, Elder Affairs Secretary Samuel Verghese, and several other leaders of partner agencies. A press conference and guided tours of the old and new Capitol buildings rounded out a very enjoyable and informative event.
