Disability History Timeline Display

Hosted by the Agency for Persons with Disabilities and Vocational Rehabilitation

Twenty five years ago, through the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), our nation pledged to eliminate discrimination against individuals with disabilities. The Agency for Persons with Disabilities and Vocational Rehabilitation, in partnership with the Hillsborough County Alliance for Citizens with Disabilities are working towards increased awareness of the need for equality of opportunity and full participation.  In celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the ADA, committee members are hosting the Disability History Timeline display.  The display is a 22-panel collage that traces 3000 years of seldom-told history. From antiquity to the present, the exhibit brings viewers through an illustrated timeline that shows society’s attitudes and how they affect the lives of people with disabilities. The annual ADA celebration in Tampa will take place this year on July 18, at the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI).
