Commissioner Bronson read some key points from a recently passed resolution.
Commissioner Bronson shared a very pesonal story about a cousin he had growing up. This cousin had a disability. Although he was able to do everything that all of the other boys his age could do, it took him twice as long. But the point is, he worked hard and accomplished what he set out to do.

The Florida Cabinet declares October as Disability Employment Awareness Month. APD and partner agencies will present awards to employers during a Disability Employment Awareness event. APD holds forums around the state to discuss the agency's programs and initiatives. Dining on barbecue can support people with disabilities. Bay County's Dan Sowell Honored By Florida Cabinet
Floridians with disabilities are ready and willing to work. October is Disability Employment Month.
The governor and state cabinet recognized the employment struggles facing people with disabilities at Tuesday’s cabinet meeting.
Bay County Property Appraiser Dan Sowell, who has cerebral palsy, says there are hundreds of disabled people willing and ready to work.
"Employees with disabilities are dedicated, dependable, loyal and hard working. They have a desire to exceed that is unsurpassed. I can assure you, people with disabilities don’t want to go to their mailbox to get their pay. They want to contribute to a 401(k)."
The Agency for Persons with Disabilities, Blind Services, and the Commission on Disabilities were on hand at today to celebrate the Cabinet’s resolution recognizing Disability Employment Month.
